Media reports have suggested that KDDI will rely on Qualcomm technology in its creation of a media content distribution service.
KDDI’s new service is said to be looking to distinguish itself from the ‘One Segment’ service which is due to be launched by DoCoMo from the beginning of April, by offering TV program storage capabilities in addition to real-time TV reception.
The news reflects an increasing trend in the unification of broadcasting and mobile services, a trend set by mobile operators in their bid to boost profits in a highly competitive market.
