Long Beach, California-based Spacient’s offers an on-demand Fieldport geographic information system (GIS), an internet-based wireless software suite designed for utilities field service management.
Fieldport uses Spacient’s proprietary mobile technology to deliver a device-independent and platform-independent software service that integrates GIS mapping and global positioning system (GPS) location with customer and asset information for the mobile workforce.
Doug Merrill, general manager of Trimble’s Mapping and GIS Division said the acquisition would enhance its GIS and mapping business by adding an enterprise software platform for utility customers.
