DataMirror scales embedded Java database

Java developers will benefit from improved scalability and performance of embedded database applications in the latest PointBase 5.4 release by DataMirror Corp.

The Toronto-based firm has released version 5.4 of its embeddable Java-based real-time database, which comes with a real-time performance monitoring GUI and enhanced SQL query support (including Case, Nullif and Coalese expressions).

Other enhancements are aimed at the Micro version of PointBase, and includes support for unrestricted MIDP local storage allowing Java developers greater flexibility for developing mobile database applications for Palm, RIM and Symbian handheld devices.

Previously developers were limited by Record Management System (RMS) for local data storage.
