Coghead is providing an on demand service where you can assemble, through relatively simple drag and drop techniques, routine applications like project management, HR new employee provisioning, or inventory database. Apps are developed within a web browser and hosted by Coghead.
It’s aimed at small to medium-sized companies (SMBs) that can’t afford developers, and could never afford to develop custom applications.
The three-year old company, which recently renamed itself from Versailles Technologies to Coghead, combines common technologies like Ajax, RSS, and Java, but puts a simplified, forms-based front end so you theoretically don’t have to know anything about programming. Beyond filling out forms, which set the properties and behaviors for the objects or components, you would drag and drop them into place.
The company’s name came from the idea that its customer base would serve as cogs when it comes to solving routine business problems that were traditionally difficult to automate.
The company is currently rolling out a public beta for free, with plans for formal release next year.
