The three-year deal, which will cover 75,000 desktops and 10,000 client access licenses (CALs), calls for the installation of Windows Office 2003 Professional, upgrades to Windows XP Pro, and 10,000 CALs for SQL server.
Ron Anderson, director of information management technology for NHS National Services Scotland (NSS), told GC News, the agreement will help deliver efficiency required for modern health services and will enable the exchange of information between the NHS and partners to improve patient care.
The GBP8 million estimated savings are expected to come from a reduction in administration costs and easier procurement for every board.
