Online gaming and downloading of games has grown in popularity over the past few years as a result of an increase in broadband internet connections.
Hoping to benefit from this trend, Trion World Network intends to develop games that change on a daily basis, in a similar way to a TV show, providing gaming ‘episodes’ for players.
While the firm will miss out on retail games sales, revenue will be created from subscriptions, paid downloads and in-game advertising.
Trion World Network, which is funded by Doll Capital Management and Trinity Ventures, aims to have its games network up and running within a year.
