USCarrier Telecom, a Southeastern wholesale provider of high-speed, long-haul, fiber optic transport connecting more than 40 cities, plans to expand its fiber optic network west to the metropolitan Birmingham, Alabama area. The network expansion is slated for completion by the first quarter of 2009 and will extend from Atlanta to Birmingham and from Birmingham to Montgomery, Alabama.

According to the company, it is constructing a metro ring in Birmingham with POPS centrally located to provide connectivity to its carrier customers. It will offer private line time division multiplexing service which is carried over its long-haul optical transport network.

Jack Roberts, vice president of sales for USCarrier, said: Part of USCarrier’s long-term strategic plans has always been to meet the needs of our customers. The reality of the massive demand for our network coupled with the company’s strategy of delivering quality, reliability and service is driving the extension of our southeastern route from Atlanta to Birmingham and Montgomery.

USCarrier provides leased dedicated point-to-point transport with bandwidths between DS1 to OC192. It also offers wholesale ethernet service from 50 Meg to 10G. This service provides dedicated transport service for packet applications such as internet service, voice over IP, video, multimedia and data transport.
