According to the company, initial products to support the new platform will include MC9000 rugged mobile computers, the ergonomic MC3000 mobile computers and the size-optimized MC70 and MC75 enterprise digital assistants (EDAs).
Windows Mobile 6.1 enables customers to deploy business-essential applications. Support for Microsoft System Center Mobile Device Manager 2008, which provides a single point of access for line-of-business applications and corporate data, also provides security-enhanced features such as on-device encryption to help protect sensitive information. The users will also find device control to wirelessly administer and deploy software upgrades, available through System Center Mobile Device Manager or Motorola’s device management services.

Support for Windows Mobile 6.1 is expected to be available on the MC3000, MC9000 and MC70 mobile computers in the fourth quarter of 2008, as well as on the MC75 in the first quarter of 2009.
