Microsoft said that the Office 2007 Service Pack 1 (SP1) will crash less, is easier to use and is more secure in comparison to the original software released in early 2007.

The company also stated that though it had planned to release Office 2007 SP1 in early 2008, the update was ready earlier than expected.

Reuters has quoted Reed Shaffner, product manager for Microsoft Office, as saying: We’re optimistic that with the shipment of SP1 we’re removing any residual barriers that may have impeded deployment and that adoption will only accelerate.

According to the CMP Channel, Microsoft is likely to release even Vista SP1 ahead of the slated time.
