The project will be delivered in partnership with Beat Systems and aims to enable Cleveland Police to access and input information in the field. This will mean officers can spend more time out on the beat, improving the service they can offer to the local community.
By enabling officers to work remotely, they will be able to submit queries and data from the field and access information when and where they actually need it. The force hopes this will speed up response times and reduce the amount of time-consuming paperwork the officers need to complete. Officers will have the ability to submit intelligence logs, warrant logs, crime logs and tasking while out and about.
The new mobile working system means bobbies on the beat will be able to access information from a variety of databases, including the Police National Computer (PNC), Command and Control, DVLA and their Records Management System.
The project is scheduled to go live in December 2008.
