Added to existing state-wide relationships with the Federal States of Thuringia and Bavaria, the deal means that more than 40% of Germany’s university students are now using Novell software, according to the company.
Through the agreement Novell is working with state universities across North Rhine Westphalia to deliver software the first their needs from a list that includes SUSE Linux Enterprise Server and Desktop, Open Enterprise Server, Identity Manager, and ZENworks for systems management.
According to Novell, 15 universities have already committed to deploying SUSE Linux Enterprise in their server and desktop environments, while 13 are planning to implement ZENworks, 10 are planning to use Identity Manager, and nine are implementing the company’s GroupWise collaboration software.
