The new ID management system will integrate with the University’s existing infrastructure to provide 25,000 students and 2,500 staff with anytime anywhere access across the University’s range of corporate and digital services.

Users will see a reduction the number of user names and passwords required with the move toward single-sign-on, which will ultimately reduce administration, automating the process of account creation and speeding up changes to systems when a user moves course or job function.

With the increase in the expectations of our students year on year, it’s important that the user experience is an excellent one and fully reflects our vision and values, said Di Martin, CIO, University of Hertfordshire. Our focus is on creating an information culture that puts people first with coherent digital environments that are easily accessible through unified portals anytime anywhere.

Salford Software said the implementation will take place in phases and will ensure the integrity of the data held within records across the systems, allowing users one single identity and access to the University’s many services: StudyNet, desktop computing, email, content services, teaching materials, and e-administration.

Salford Software, also UK-based, is wholly owned by the University of Salford, and was formed in 1988. It works with software partners including Novell, Microsoft, and Sun Microsystems.
