The ECLOS16 offers high image quality and 16-slice applications with features for as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA) x-ray dose practices. It provides optional 3D advanced visualization solutions from TeraRecon, a provider of computer products for medical imaging.
Mark Silverman, marketing manager at Hitachi Medical Systems America said: It is efficient in terms of equipment price, service costs, room requirements, electricity and air conditioning demands, etc., making the 5-year total cost of ownership lower than other 16-slice scanners.
Hitachi’s rivals have also launched 16-slice CT scanners. GE launched a multi-detector 16-slice BrightSpeed CT scanner with the CT Perfusion 4 neuro analysis software package in January 2007, while Siemens Medical Solutions launched the Somatom Emotion 16.
