The new solution centralizes the Hutchinson Sealing Systems’ (HSS) communications resources, saves money and improves collaboration among employees at HSS’s facilities and those of its affiliates in the US and Mexico.

HSS has replaced existing infrastructure at its four US facilities with Siemens HiPath 3800 communications platforms and plans to install an additional HiPath 3800 at an affiliated Mexican facility in late Q1 2008. The HiPath 3800 can provide networked environment and ensures a stand-alone operation at each site, providing the business continuity requirements for HSS’s critical operations.

The complete implementation will network all five facilities, will enable the company to move 50% of its voice traffic to the IP network and save money by eliminating toll calls between facilities. HSS has already seen substantial savings in toll costs among its US plants.

Siemens’ strategic OpenPath approach has enabled HSS to optimize communications by deploying optiPoint 420 IP devices and optiPoint 500 digital telephones. These optiPoint devices enhance their existing legacy phones and protect HSS’s investment in legacy infrastructure.

Cedric Duclos, CFO of HSS, said: We needed a way to leverage the latest communications technology to improve how we do our business, as well as save money. We wanted a strategic partner, not just a vendor, and Siemens delivered the worldwide support with world-class service we were looking for.
