Redwood City, California-based Frengo manages a mobile social networking platform for people on the go. The company was founded by wireless communications professional that are part of the Bellevue, Washington-based Trilogy Partnership that operates wireless networks and provides equity investments in earl-stage telco-focused startups
In August last year Frengo received $2.3m in seed financing from Khosla Ventures and Index Ventures. Both companies also participated in the series A round.
Frengo aims to transform SMS capabilities built into cell phones into a social community networking environment, for message, contact and knowledge exchange. The company said its network spans across all the major US mobile carriers like AT&T (Cingular), Verizon, Sprint, and Nextel.
