Nokia Siemens Networks is expected to complete its acquisition of the majority of Motorola’s public carrier wireless network infrastructure assets in the first quarter of 2011.
Nokia Siemens has received antitrust clearance from US, European Union, Brazil, Japan, Russia, South Africa, Taiwan and Turkey, while regulatory approval is pending from the authority in China.
This has delayed the expected acquisition from the earlier planned the end of 2010 to the first quarter of 2011.
Nokia Siemens Networks chief executive officer Rajeev Suri said this delay is disappointing, but they’re looking forward to completing the acquisition early in the new year.
"We are continuing to work closely with the authority in China to finalize the clearance process in that country, and we recognise its efforts in addressing this case as a matter of importance," Suri said.
As per the acquisition, Nokia Siemens Networks is expected to receive approximately 7,500 employees from Motorola’s public carrier wireless network infrastructure business, including large research and development sites in the US, China and India.
