Expedient Communications, a provider of data centre colocation, managed services and connectivity offerings, has announced plans to open a new data centre in Columbus, Ohio.
Expedient said that the new facility will be the first data centre in the Columbus market and the eighth data centre the company operates across six cities under three different wholly owned brand names.
The other seven data centres are located in Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Indianapolis (dba nFrame), Boston and Baltimore (dba DataPoint).
The company said that its new facility will have dual commercial power feeds, redundant generators, N+2 cooling systems, multi-carrier telecommunications infrastructure, multiple tiered security system, fire suppression system and a 24x7x365 operations support centre.
Expedient regional vice president Bryan Smith said that the company will be the only service provider in the market with regionally diverse data centres, all offering a full complement of managed services and connectivity as part of its product suite.
"We believe that Columbus is the next logical place for us to expand, as we already have successful, growing and fully capable operations in the surrounding markets of Cleveland, Pittsburgh and Indianapolis," Smith said.
