Tektronix Communications, a Plano, Texas subsidiary of Danaher, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Chelmsford, MA-based security and network management software developer Arbor Networks.

Arbor Networks provides mobile and fixed-line operators, cable and DSL providers, ISPs and other cloud-based infrastructure and service providers with offerings for the detection and mitigation of network security threats.

The company’s products include Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) prevention platform, Peakflow, which is the de facto standard for IP flow-based network security and analysis, and the eSeries platforms for broadband service optimisation.

The Plano, Texas headquartered Tektronix Communications provides network operators and equipment manufacturers with a suite of network diagnostics and management offerings for fixed, mobile, IP and converged multi-service networks.

Its set of offerings support a range of architectures and applications such as LTE, fixed mobile convergence, IMS, broadband wireless access, WiMAX, VoIP and triple play, including IPTV.

The acquisition is expected to close in September. The terms of the acquisition are not disclosed.
