Akibia, a provider of data center, network and security offerings, has named Thomas Tucker, previously president and chief financial officer, as the chief executive officer of the company.

Tucker joined Akibia in 1990 as its CFO. He was promoted to president in 2002 and oversaw all aspects of the company.

Thomas Willson, the company’s founder and former CEO, will assume the role of executive chairman of the board. As executive chairman, Mr Willson will remain actively involved in Akibia, identifying strategic growth opportunities and mentoring the leadership team.

Mr Willson said: "Tom has keen insight into our customers and the services they require. His financial acumen and management style combined with his commitment to the customer will ensure the company is successful in this exciting next stage of growth. A key contributor to Akibia for more than 20 years, Tom is responsible for many of the successes in our business, and is influential in our growth."
