Savvis Symphony, a provider of cloud infrastructure and hosted IT offerings, has launched a new cloud computing offering Virtual Private Data Center (VPDC) that allows enterprises to design and deploy a set of data centre services for a variety of applications.
The company’s suite of cloud services include public cloud services VPDC and Open that offer differentiated service levels with predictable performance for scenarios ranging from development and testing of new applications to automated capacity increases; and private cloud service Dedicated that allows clients to scale their infrastructure.
The VPDC currently features two service profiles – Essential and Balanced – with a third – Premier – planned in a follow-up release. The Open and Dedicated service can also be used to create hybrid offerings that blend cloud with traditional infrastructure services such as colocation and managed services, Savvis Symphony said.
The company said that its range of network offerings integrated with the new release includes network options ranging from public connectivity over Tier 1 IP network backbone to low-latency Application Transport Services (ATS), core Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS)-based service.
Bryan Doerr, chief technology officer at Savvis, said: "Savvis Symphony hybrid solutions tie the cloud into an organisation’s colocation, managed services and network services to solve unique needs while backed by the security and performance of a leading infrastructure provider.
"Our multilevel service profile capability provides a range of features, support levels and performance to meet the needs of various application types, including test and development, web hosting and mission-critical applications."
