AT&T and Samsung Telecommunications America (Samsung Mobile) have announced the upcoming availability of Samsung Captivate, Galaxy S smartphone that is powered by AT&T’s High Speed Packet Access (HSPA) 7.2 Mbps technology and Android 2.1platform.

According to Samsung, the new smartphone comes with 4-inch display powered by Super AMOLED display screen technology, a 1GHz Samsung Hummingbird Application processor and Samsung Social Hub, a feature that integrates the user’s social networking services, messages, personal and business email, calendars and contacts.

The new smartphone is outfitted with 3D sound capabilities and is designed with a six-axis sensor that combines the smartphone’s accelerometer and gyroscope to provide a fluid gaming experience. Its user interface supports touch screen gestures capabilities including multi-touch pinch, long tap and zoom and vertical and horizontal swiping.

The new product also features virtual Qwerty keyboard with Swype technology, 5.0-megapixel camera/ camcorder with auto-focus and HD video recording (720p), MP3 player, and up to 16 GB expandable memory. It also includes AT&T Navigator and provides access to AT&T’s entire national Wi-Fi network at no additional charge.

In addition, the Samsung Captivate features All Share application that enables inter-device connectivity through DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) technology that allows users to send user-generated video content wirelessly to other DLNA-enabled devices. It includes Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n), HTML browser, Bluetooth 3.0 technology, tri-band 3G connectivity and quad-band GSM technology.
