AMD has introduced the ATI Theater HD 750, a PC TV chip which offers HDTV viewing capabilities on desktop and notebook PCs using analog and digital, and free-to-air broadcast signals.

The new chip claims to use advanced video processing and signal reception technologies to deliver clear HD picture quality and high colour performance.

The company said that the new chip is compatible with HDTV/DTV/analog broadcast signals including NTSC, PAL/SECAM, DVB-T, ClearQAM and ATSC.

The company also said that consumers can use ATI Stream enabled video conversion software for seamless transcoding, when the new chip is paired with an ATI Radeon graphics card. Matt Skynner, vice president & general manager of GPU Division, AMD Products Group, said: “ATI Theater HD 750 combines AMD’s longstanding reputation for video expertise with consumer demand for a cost effective, easy to use and high quality TV on the PC experience. ATI Theater HD 750, in combination with ATI Radeon graphics and AMD mobile technology-based notebooks, provides a simplified, high-quality home-theater solution.”
