AMD has reported revenue of $1.57bn for the fourth quarter of 2009, an increase of 34% compared to $1.18bn for the same period last year.
The company posted an operating income of $130m, compared to an operating loss of $298bn for the same period last year. Gross margin was 47% in the first quarter.
For the quarter ended December 26, 2009, net income was $257m, or $0.35 per share, compared to a net loss attributable to AMD common stockholders of $416m or $0.66 per share. For the fourth quarter of 2009, the net income attributable to AMD common stockholders was $1.18bn.
Computing Solutions segment revenue decreased 5% sequentially and increased 23% year-over-year, while graphics segment revenue was down 3% sequentially and up 88% year-over-year.
Dirk Meyer, president and CEO of AMD, said: “Strong product offerings and solid operating performance resulted in record first quarter revenue. We continue to strengthen our product offerings. We launched our latest generation of server platforms, expanded our family of DirectX 11-compatible graphics offerings, and commenced shipments of our next-generation notebook platforms to customers.”
AMD expects revenue to be down seasonally for the second quarter of 2010.
