Infrastructure services provider Unisys has established a global forum called Center for Government Innovation, CGI, for government leaders and IT professionals to share ideas and experiences, learn about best practices in technology innovation, and discuss key issues relating to business and operation of the government.
Unisys will sponsor and conduct primary research in the fields of green computing, cyber security, physical security, secure information sharing, health IT, law enforcement and justice, enabling transparency in government, energy management, cloud computing, and other emerging issues.
The forum will initially focus on issues related to the US federal, state, and local governments. The company has appointed a board of authorities that includes authorities from defense, IT security in the public sector, financial administration, and national intelligence.
Ted Davies, president of federal systems division at Unisys, said: For more than a century, Unisys has worked with governments to drive efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity through technological innovation, forward-thinking approaches, and industry best-practices. CGI seeks to extend this commitment by leveraging primary research, industry forums, online programs, and Web 2.0 capabilities to provide public sector and IT leaders with new tools and solutions to their most challenging issues.
