Chatsworth, California-based Micropolis Corp has announced the 2200 series of 3.5 Fast SCSI-2 hard disk drives: the 2217 holds 1.75Gb, the 2210 has 1.05Gb of formatted data and the 2205 can take up to 585Mb; the drives have an access time of 10mS and spin at a speed of 5,400rpm; a write cache increases write throughput on the disk drives by 300% over the old 2100 range; also announced were a range of IDE drives; the 2217A holds 1.62Gb, the 2210A handles 976Mb and the 2205A stores 542Mb; drive prices start at $1,175, and they are shipping now with a five year warranty when bought from an authorised reseller.
