Siemens AG reported nine-month group net profit equivalent to $772.3m, up 1%, on turnover up 2% at $32,550m: While domestic sales were hit by falling orders, our overseas business recorded a small growth, the company said, but added that a general economic recovery in international markets was not yet visible; sales abroad rose 6% to $17,910m while home sales fell 3% to $14,640m; domestic orders fell 12% to $15,520m but foreign orders put on 2% to $19,420m with the growth coming predominantly in the company’s industrial and building systems businesses; public telecommunications had not done so well although strong worldwide demand boosted the semiconductor, passive component and electromechanical components businesses; the company cut its workforce by 3% to 401,000 worldwide, but there was no word on the struggling Siemens Nixdorf Informationssysteme AG arm.
