Texas Instruments Inc says it will build its first large new semiconductor facility at its home base in Dallas for almost a decade, and expects it to cost it as much as $1,000m. The company says the expansion is in response to booming worldwide demand for its chips and the need for it to remain competitive. According to the Dallas Morning News, the plant is expected to employ 200 to 300 people when the first phase is completed by the end of 1995, and that the number will rise to between 700 and 800 when the second phase is completed in 1998.
