BT AND MCI SOLICITING BIDS FROM COMPANIES TO BUILD PARTS OF THE TAT-X TRANSATLANTIC FIBRE OPTIC CABLE

British Telecommunications Plc and MCI Communications Corp are soliciting bids from companies that would like to build parts of the TAT-X transatlantic fibre optic cable: the TAT-X Cable Consortium plans to award contracts in May and looks for completion in 1993: TAT-X will have five times the capacity of TAT-9, due for service at year-end.
