AT&T Co is planning a new long distance volume discount service that when – and if – approved would provide businesses in specialised markets an additional way to obtain savings: AT&T Distributed Network Service is designed to enable users to buy large volumes of service and receive progressive discounts of up to 27% on all direct-dial domestic calls and up to 15% on all direct-dial international calls, and they will be able to designate any number of locations to participate in the plan with the flexibility of adding locations within an average of 10 working days; it will be available on either a month-to-month basis or as a term plan; month-to-month users will pay a $10 per location charge, a service establishment fee of $50,000, and receive no additional discounts above the average per-minute cost; under the Term Plan, users can maximise savings by committing to a three- or four-year term with monthly revenue commitments beginning at $20,000, and for these, service establishment charge is reduced to $40,000.
