ComputerLand Corp, still privately held despite a string of attempts to arrange an initial public offering, says that it made a profit of $6m for 1990 – but only after a tax credit of $11.3m, compared with a loss of $34.3m in 1989; turnover increased by 17% to reach $424m; the turnover figure represents its transactions with ComputerLand franchise holders; the total turnover of the retail franchise chain is of course substantially higher.
