The Congress of People’s Deputies of the USSR – the Soviet parliament – has a new computerised voting system from Dutch firm Origin Technology in Business: based upon Motorola 68020 technology with a Unixalike real-time operating system, it can be used by up to 6,000 delegates and can display information in a variety of character sets, including Cyrillic – systems integrator Origin Technology began life last June after the merger of the internal software division of Philips NV and Dutch systems integration company BSO/Beheer BV (CI No 1,442); it is in Redhill, Surrey.
