Autodesk Inc’s Japanese subsidiary is to begin selling an enhanced version of its parents’ computer-aided software design package on Unix workstations: with improved memory functions, AutoCAD Gx-5 is already sold on NEC Corp, Fujitsu Ltd, Matsushita Electric and IBM Japan personal computers and will now be offered initially on Sun Microsystems workstations, followed by Hewlett-Packard, Sony, NEC and DEC systems; it claims 30,000 copies of AutoCAD have been sold in Japan.
