Eatontown, New Jersey-based Syntrex Inc, the former intelligent typewriter builder – it put screens onto electronic typewriters to create word processors and once attracted investment from Ing C Olivetti & Co SpA as part of a marketing agreement – turned systems integrator, has found a saviour in the shape of Phoenix Technologies Inc, a Valley Forge, Pennsylvania company – not to be confused with Phoenix, Technologies Ltd – that offers installation and maintenance services for Citicorp’s Quotron Systems Inc share price information provider. Phoenix will pay $8m cash and assume $5m in liabilities in Syntrex, which is trading under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The combination will create a near $85m-a-year network systems integration firm.
