AEG AG’s Modular Computer Systems Inc, Fort Lauderdale, reports that it has won a $1m contract from the operating companies of Allegheny Power System for its Real/Star family of real-time computer systems: a ModComp customer since 1981, the utility now wants 12 of the 88000 RISC-based single-board computers for around-the-clock continuous emissions monitoring of sulphur dioxide, to comply with state and federal environmental regulations; the company also has $1.6m order from Landesanstalt Fur Immissionsschutz in Essen, North Rhine Westphalia, for four Classic 9230 systems for their KFU system, used by authorities to comply with the German Nuclear Power Control Law.
