Novell Inc has demonstrated a prototype network management system designed to work with IBM’s OS/2 and graphical user interface, Presentation Manager. According to CommunicationsWeek magazine, Novell demonstrated the system for developers. It will support central management of resources, including third party applications running on NetWare networks. According to developers, the system has two main components, Data Acquisition and Data Presentation. Applications register with the management software through its Data Acquisition tools, while Data Presentation is for configuring the management system. Last October, Novell launched LANtern, a Windows 3.0 based network management application for its LANtern network monitor.
