CHINA’S MINISTRY OF POSTS & TELECOMMUNICATIONS HAS LEASED A TRANSPONDER ON THE ASIASAT 1 SATELLITE FOR THREE YEARS

China’s Ministry of Posts & Telecommunications has leased a transponder on the AsiaSat 1 satellite for three years, at a cost of $4.5m: the bird is owned by Asia Satellite Telecommunications Co, the joint venture owned by Hong Kong Telecommunications Ltd, Hutchison Whampoa Ltd and China International Trust & Investment Corp.
