Tulip Computers NV chose the French PC Forum for the European launch of the first two machines in the new Tulip Vision line, which is intended to take the company through the 1990s. The 32-bit Tulip DT 386SX and DC 386SX are both built around a 20MHz 80386SX chip with MS Windows offered as standard. Both machines come with a 3.5 1.44Mb disk drive and the DT 386SX offers a 5.25 free bay to connect to other peripherals such as CD-ROM or second hard disk. The DC 386SX, meanwhile, benefits from what is described as a slimline design. The DT 386SX has 2Mb of standard memory, expandable up to 18Mb. Both machines include a password access feature that enables any program, once executed, to be protected. As an early indication of price for end-users, a basic configuration with 40Mb hard disk, at below the local currency equivalent of $3,800.
