Compaq Computer Corp, which thought it had completed its manufacturing complex in Erskine, Scotland when it completed the second phase, but hopes in Glasgow are now high that it will decide to expand further there before pursuing the idea of a second European plant, because it needs more capacity very quickly and there is spare space at Erskine: another 400 jobs could be created, suggests the Financial Times.
