The NEC Hiroshima wholly-owned subsidiary of NEC Corp has completed a new $425m 4M-bit memory chip plant that will also be able to fabricate 16M-bit dynamics in 0.6 micron CMOS: montly output of 4Ms will increase to 4m by April 1991 and sample shipments of 16M-bit parts will start in the first quarter of next year with volume planned for sometime in 1992; the company has done its bit for the environment by eliminating use of fluoro-carbons from its processes, and implementation of a GAINS Global and Integrated Information System for NEC Semiconductor Group system, with integrated control from order entry to shipment and production; NEC is bullish on the chip market and sees 10% annual growth.
