And Plessey-Telenet claims to have orders worth over UKP1m for its TP4/II-4228 packet mini-switch which was revealed at last month’s Telecommunications Managers Association in Brighton: the 4228 uses the same logic and line processor cards as the TP4/II-4250, takes up to 48 synchronous and asynchronous ports, and supports up to 1,000 simultaneous virtual circuits, with a throughput of 800 packets per second; the ordered switches, which use TP4/II software, will be installed in the next six months, and are designed to be configured for the network availability requirements of a small office environment with big switch performance needs.
