Earlier this month, Ing C Olivetti & Co SpA, overhauled its LSX line of Unix computers, with seven new models designated 30X5 to replace the original 30X0 machines: the new line comprises models based on the 68020 and 68030 to the high-end 3075 and 3085, due to ship in January, which are single and dual processors said to deliver 5 MIPS and 9 MIPS and built around processors from the Edgecore division of Arix Corp. The hardware was accompanied by Olivetti’s long-promised Unix Integrated Business and Information System office software, including X-Manager for managing and passing information between applications; word processing, file management, mail, print management, notepad and system administration tools. On the personal computer front, the firm added the M380/XP9 based on the 33MHz 80386 with 4Mb or 8Mb and 32Kb cache, and two low-end boxes, the Pcs-86, using a NEC V30 and the Pcs-286, using a 12MHz 80286 part. The M111 lap-top is joined by an M211, based on a 16MHz 80286 with 1Mb to 3Mb and 20Mb or 40Mb disk.
