Princeton Graphic Systems Inc, Roswell, Georgia has joined the X terminal fray with the Ultra X, claimed to be the industry’s first high resolution colour display for the X Window System. It offers a highly optimised, cost-effective and configurable system for displaying X Window applications. The Ultra X has configurable memory from 512Kb to 8Mb, and features a Virtual Screen facility to enable users to access a screen much larger than the display resolution of the monitor, and a custom memory management system designed for X-server support. No word on the processor, but the initial models go from a base monochrome model supporting 1,024 by 1,024 pixels at from $2,000 up to a 19 colour model supporting 1,280 by 1,024 pixels at $5,300.
