Fujitsu Ltd also recently introduced a CD-ROM Pre-mastering unit, the CD-ROM Maker, which is designed for use by software houses for small-scale production of between one and 50 Compact Disks, and Fujitsu is promoting its use for duplicating software for its FM-Towns multimedia, CD-ROM based home computer: the unit converts data to CD-ROM data format to the ISO 9660 standard, and then stores it on a compact disk, with tools for debugging through logic simulation of the CD-ROM and appropriate placement of the program and data on the disk for better file access; it can also write data on the master to a CD-write-once disk; the price of a 300Mb unit is around $37,000 while a 540Mb unit is $52,000 and Fujitsu will be showing this and other FM-Towns-related equipment at the Mediapolis in Tokyo Dome, a youth-oriented exhibition displaying new technology and hyper-media applications for business, education and home just before Christmas – December 15 to 17.
