Fujitsu Ltd-backed Sunnyvale firm Poqet Computer Corp has teamed up with Infonet Services Corp, now owned by a string of international phone companies and state monopolies, to provide global communications and information systems by combining the Poqet PC with the worldwide messaging and communications services delivered by Infonet, and Infonet introduced the The Personal Communicator, which will be marketed by Infonet to multinational enterprises. Future products will include PoqetNet, to enable individual users to access Infonet, which will be marketed by Poqet will through its own distribution channels from next year. The Personal Communicator consists of the Poqet PC MS-DOS handheld computer with Infonet’s Notice Notebook software and a WorldPort 2400bps portable modem, all designed to provide simple, immediate access from over 115 countries to Infonet’s Notebook Network global communications and information service, which is designed for professionals using laptop and notebook computers, and provides electronic mail and messaging and access to many databases.The package will cost $2,000 with a corporate network contract.
