SenSage has introduced a new version of its event data warehouse software, SenSage 4.5, reportedly bringing elastic storage and processing to cloud-based event data warehousing applications.

According to the company, the new version provides server, storage and data virtualisation in a single event data warehousing platform, along with a menu of pre-built governance risk and compliance (GRC) applications. SenSage cloud-based applications are currently being deployed in multiple petabyte-scale implementations.

Reportedly, the new version works in a VMware or cloud-based computing environment and offers elastic storage and processing power. SenSage said that its applications run on a virtualised platform to handle the data volumes and characteristics of event data.

The company said that the new version includes: MPP, compressed and clustered architecture that leverages the company’s patented columnar database management system; server virtualisation which allows clustering and configuration in a VMware environment with hypervisor for use of CPU cores, memory and other virtualised hardware resources; and native support for multi-tenancy on a single physical or virtual instance.

According to the company, the new offering also includes: storage virtualisation which allows integration of storage area networks (SANs), network-attached storage (NAS) and content addressable storage (CAS) as ‘online storage’ in a cloud-based or VMware environment; data virtualisation which allows to add new data sources, reports and analyses without requiring changes to underlying SQL or database schema; role-based access to systems, reports and tables; and real-time monitoring and correlation of events for timely notification and remediation of security and GRC incidents.

Further to it, the company added that, the new version can be offered as a Software as a Service (SaaS) application. Multi-tenancy issues complicate cloud-based deployments from a security perspective, SenSage provides the security information and event management (SIEM) applications, required to manage these implementations.

Bruno Kurtic, vice president of product management at SenSage, said: SenSage 4.5 extends the capability of our core product to provide a true 360-degree view of data that spans from the enterprise data centre to the cloud. This means faster deployments at dramatically lower costs, both CAPEX and ongoing administration, while providing the performance and flexibility organisations need to be successful.
