Memorex Telex International NV has introduced an STP 6541 Multifunction Communications Controller that provides simultaneous access to multiple synchronous and asynchronous hosts, and with support for up to eight directly connected devices, it also offers display users windowing to multiple sessions and hosts: ASCII support allows for 3270 emulation on ASCII terminals, ASCII emulation on 3270 terminals, as well as ASCII to ASCII pass-through; the remote synchronous host connection operates at up to 64Kbps for SNA/SDLC protocols and 9,600bps for bisynchronous protocols, and optional logic cards include a Standard Systems Integration expansion module; an asynchronous adaptor for two RS-232-D ports may be configured as interfaces to asynchronous hosts or displays, and a memory expansion module provides 500Kb random access memory storage; the STP 6541 Meltifunction Communication Controller base unit costs $4,125 and it is available now.
