Cisco System Inc, Menlo Park, California has signed an OEM agreement under which it will take IBM’s switchable 16/4Mbps Token-Ring 5) technology for use in its internetworking router-bridges so that it can develop a token-ring interface board for its CGS two-slot, MGS four-slot, AGS nine-slot and AGS+ high-performance nine-slot router-bridges; the new interface will be field-installable in existing systems and will be able to be mixed and matched with other local-area network media, such as Ethernet and FDDI, and wide-area network transmission media, including multiple synchronous serial lines in a single router-bridge; no financial details of the pact were given.
