It’s not clear exactly what is new about it, but Digital Equipment Corp and Oracle Corp have signed a comprehensive agreement to deliver the complete suite of Oracle Applications on DEC hardware through extensive technical collaboration, co-operative marketing programmes and joint selling; under the applications alliance programme, the two will work closely together to convert and optimise Oracle Applications to run under the OpenVMS and RISC Ultrix operating systems; the agreement adds Oracle Manufacturing to the existing two-year relationship that made Oracle Financials, Oracle Government Financials and Oracle Human Resources the leading financial and personnel management systems available on both OpenVMS and RISC Ultrix systems – but what does leading mean? – top-selling, or simply that Oracle thinks that they are rather good?
