Managers at Bell Atlantic Corp, Nynex Corp and Pacific Telesis Group are having to roll up their sleeves, man operator positions and get out the soldering irons and handle repairs and installations this week after members of the Communications Workers of America, and some from the International Brotherhood of Electricians walked off the job when their negotiators failed to reach agreement on new contracts of employment – but it was difficult to get any attention from the manager-operators at Nynex in New York yesterday: the two key dispute issues are pay and the amount the Baby Bells contribute to their employee health care schemes.
