Latest figures for the Japanese personal computer market show that NEC Corp still commands a 46.2% share of the market for the machines in small and medium-sized enterprises, but that IBM Japan is beginning to show some real fight, growing its share to 16.8%, but NEC, IBM and Fujitsu still dominate the market, accounting for 74.7%; NEC’s PC9800 family is still the top seller, with 30.4% of the market; IBM’s new PS/55, Japanese version of the PS/2 is now the second best seller with 16.4%, overtaking NEC’s N5200 which has 13.7%; Fujitsu’s 9450 came fourth with 8.7%.
